Terms of Use

Critical mushroom safety warning: Image-based mushroom identification can be incomplete or wrong. Never eat, taste, touch, prepare, sell or use a wild mushroom based only on MycoSnap. Some deadly species closely resemble edible ones. Always have a find confirmed in person by a qualified local expert. If ingestion or exposure may have occurred, contact local emergency services or poison control immediately.
1. Acceptance of these terms
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of MycoSnap, listed as “Mushroom Identifier: MycoSnap”. By using the app, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use MycoSnap.
2. Who may use MycoSnap
You must be legally capable of accepting these terms. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, use MycoSnap only with permission and supervision from a parent or legal guardian.
3. License
Subject to these terms, you receive a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to install and use MycoSnap for lawful, non-commercial purposes. No ownership rights are transferred.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use MycoSnap for an unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, deceptive or unsafe purpose;
- upload content you do not have the right to use or transmit;
- submit images containing unrelated personal, confidential or sensitive information;
- interfere with, overload, bypass or attempt unauthorized access to the app or connected services;
- reverse engineer, copy, modify, distribute, resell or exploit MycoSnap except where applicable law expressly permits it; or
- use automated methods to scrape, extract or abuse app content or third-party results.
5. Your images and collection data
You retain rights you hold in images and information you provide. You give MycoSnap permission to process those materials only as needed to deliver requested features, including preparing and sending a selected mushroom image to an identification service. You are responsible for your content, device backups and permission to use submitted material.
6. Identification and safety disclaimer
Names, descriptions, toxicity or edibility labels, look-alike warnings, habitat, season, reference locations and other results may be incomplete, outdated or incorrect. Appearance varies with age, weather, geography and specimen condition, and a photograph may omit essential features. MycoSnap provides general educational information—not medical advice, food-safety certification or a professional mycological determination.
Do not consume, handle, sell, administer or recommend a mushroom based on the app. For any safety decision, consult a qualified mycologist or local expert in person. For suspected poisoning or exposure, contact emergency services or poison control without waiting for an app result.
7. Recipes and guides
Recipes and guides are general educational material. Use recipes only with mushrooms sold as food by a reputable commercial source, or mushrooms independently confirmed as edible by a qualified local expert. Consider allergies, medication interactions, storage, contamination, cooking and individual dietary needs. Never use recipe content to determine whether a wild mushroom is edible.
8. Third-party services and content
MycoSnap may use Google Lens for identification, Google AdMob for ads, Firebase for app configuration, analytics and crash diagnostics, Apple Maps for maps and navigation, and Apple and RevenueCat for purchases. Third parties apply their own terms and privacy practices. Their content, accuracy, security, availability and conduct are outside MycoSnap's control.
9. Purchases, subscriptions and trials
Available plans, prices, billing periods, trial eligibility and benefits appear before purchase and may vary by country or App Store account. Payment is charged to your Apple ID through the App Store. Unless clearly described as a one-time purchase, a subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Renewal may be charged within 24 hours before that period ends.
If a free trial is offered, its eligibility and duration are shown before purchase. Unless cancelled in time, it converts to the displayed paid plan. Deleting MycoSnap does not cancel a subscription. Manage or cancel through Apple ID subscription settings and use Restore Purchases with the same Apple ID. Apple handles billing, cancellation, refund requests and disputes under its rules and applicable consumer law. RevenueCat validates transactions and synchronizes Pro access.
10. Advertising
The free version may include Google AdMob advertising in banner, native, interstitial and app-open formats. Ad content is not endorsed by MycoSnap, and dealings with advertisers are between you and them. Ad placements, frequency and availability may change. An active Pro subscription removes advertising. You must not interfere with or artificially generate ad views or interactions.
11. Intellectual property
MycoSnap's software, design, text, graphics, branding and other app materials are owned by or licensed to the app developer and are protected by intellectual-property laws. Third-party names, trademarks, photographs and content remain the property of their respective owners.
12. App changes and termination
Features, content and integrations may be changed, suspended or discontinued. Access may be restricted or terminated if you violate these terms, create risk or harm, or continued operation is no longer practical. You may stop using MycoSnap at any time, but must separately cancel an active subscription.
13. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MycoSnap is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. No promise is made that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, accurate or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing here excludes a warranty or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded.
14. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the MycoSnap developer and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, lost profits, data, opportunities or business, or poisoning, illness, injury or death arising from reliance on the app. Liability that cannot legally be excluded remains limited to the minimum extent permitted by law.
15. Indemnity
Where permitted by law, you agree to defend and indemnify the MycoSnap developer against claims, losses and expenses resulting from your unlawful use, your content, your violation of these terms or another person's rights.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws that apply to the MycoSnap developer, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Mandatory consumer rights and any jurisdiction required by applicable law are not affected.
17. Apple terms
For the iOS app, Apple's App Store terms and Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also apply. Mandatory Apple terms control to the extent of any conflict.
18. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as MycoSnap or legal requirements change. The effective date will be revised when updated terms are posted. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
