Privacy Policy

CoinSnapper (listed as “CoinSnapper: Coin Identifier”) helps you photograph, identify, and organize coins. Most app data is stored on your device. When you request identification, the selected coin image is sent to Google Lens so that the app can return a match. The free version of the app also shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob.

1. Information CoinSnapper handles

Depending on the features you use, CoinSnapper may handle:

• Coin photos: images you capture with the camera or select from your photo library.
• Collection data: saved coins, identification results, notes, and related collection details.
• Preferences: settings such as language, currency, auto-save, haptics, and premium status.
• Purchase information: Apple and RevenueCat may provide product identifiers, transaction status, entitlement status, renewal or expiration dates, and an anonymous app-user identifier. CoinSnapper does not receive your full payment-card details.
• Advertising data: when ads are shown, Google AdMob may receive your device advertising identifier, IP address, coarse location derived from that address, device and app information, and records of ad views and interactions.
• Configuration data: the app requests its settings from Firebase Remote Config, which receives standard request information such as IP address, app version, and an app instance identifier.
• Technical data: information normally sent in network requests, such as IP address, device/browser information, cookies, and request metadata, may be received by the third-party services used for identification, advertising, and configuration.
• Tracking permission: on supported Apple devices, the app may ask for permission under Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. You may deny this permission in the prompt or change it later in device settings.

2. How information is used

Information is used to:

• capture or select a coin image;
• identify coins and display related details;
• save and manage your collection on your device;
• remember your app preferences;
• process purchases, restore access, and determine whether Premium features are active;
• show, measure, and limit the frequency of advertising in the free version;
• load app configuration, such as which features and ad placements are switched on;
• maintain security, diagnose errors, and improve app reliability; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

3. Camera, photo library, and local storage

Camera and photo-library access is used only when you choose features that need it. Saved coin photos, collection records, and preferences are kept locally on your device unless a feature clearly tells you otherwise. You can control camera and photo permissions in your device settings. Removing a saved coin or uninstalling the app may remove locally stored data, subject to your device's backup behavior.

4. Google Lens and third-party processing

When you start an identification, CoinSnapper prepares and uploads the chosen image to Google Lens. Google may process the image, IP address, cookies, device information, and related request data under its own privacy terms. Do not submit an image containing a person, document, location detail, or other information you do not want sent to Google. Google's services are independent of CoinSnapper, and their availability and results are not under our control. Before your first identification the app shows a disclosure explaining that the image will be sent for processing, and you can decline it and stop there.

Premium purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and subscription status is managed through RevenueCat. Apple and RevenueCat process purchase and device information under their own privacy terms. RevenueCat is used to validate transactions, restore purchases, and keep Premium entitlement status synchronized; it does not provide CoinSnapper with your complete payment-card number.

5. Advertising

The free version of CoinSnapper shows banner, native, interstitial, and app-open advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Google acts as an independent controller of the data it collects through those ads and processes it under its own privacy terms, including the Google Privacy & Terms.

On supported Apple devices the App Tracking Transparency prompt described above decides whether advertising may be personalized. The app is configured to request non-personalized advertising unless tracking is permitted, and you can change your answer at any time in your device settings. On Android you can reset or delete your advertising ID in the system settings. Non-personalized ads still involve a request to Google and still use coarse, non-identifying signals such as approximate location and app context.

An active Premium subscription removes advertising from the app, which also stops these ad requests being made.

6. App configuration

CoinSnapper reads its feature and ad settings from Firebase Remote Config, a Google service, so that behaviour can be adjusted without shipping a new release. Google receives standard request information for these fetches and processes it under its own privacy terms. No coin photo or collection record is sent to this service.

7. Sharing and sale of information

CoinSnapper does not sell your coin photos or collection records. Information may be disclosed to service providers when needed to provide a feature, to comply with law, protect rights and safety, investigate abuse, or as part of a business transfer. The identification disclosure above explains when a selected photo is sent to Google Lens. Purchase and entitlement information is shared with Apple and RevenueCat as described above, and advertising information with Google as described in section 5.

When you use the share control on a coin, the app hands the image and its details to whichever app or destination you choose. What happens to it after that is governed by that app, not by this policy.

8. Retention and deletion

Locally stored information remains on your device until you delete it, clear the app's storage, or uninstall the app. Information processed by a third party is retained according to that party's policies. To remove local collection data, use the available delete controls in CoinSnapper or remove the app's data through your device settings.

9. Data security

Reasonable measures are used to protect information, but no device, transmission, or storage method is completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device and its backups.

10. Children's privacy

CoinSnapper is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum age required by local law, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact us through the support channel listed for CoinSnapper in the app store where the app was obtained.

11. International processing

Third-party services may process information in countries other than your own. Those countries may have different data-protection laws.

12. Your choices

• Camera and photos: grant or revoke access in your device settings; the app keeps working without them, minus the features that need them.
• Tracking and ad personalization: change the App Tracking Transparency answer in iOS settings, or reset your advertising ID in Android settings.
• Advertising as a whole: subscribe to Premium to remove ads.
• Your collection: delete individual coins in the app, or clear the app's data or uninstall it to remove everything held locally.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when CoinSnapper's features or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be revised when an update is posted. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use.
