Universal TV Remote – Control

With the given terms, we notify the laws, rules, limitations, conditions,
and terms of services when you use our app.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Universal TV Remote – Control mobile application ("the App", "we", "us"), previously published as VidTV : Remote. By downloading, installing or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the App.

2. Licence to Use the App

We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the App on devices that you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. This licence does not transfer any ownership in the App to you.

3. What the App Does

The App turns your phone or tablet into a remote control for compatible smart televisions on your local network. It discovers televisions on the network you are connected to, pairs with them where the television requires it, and sends remote-control commands such as power, navigation, volume and playback.

4. Requirements and Compatibility

To work, the App requires that your television is switched on, connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device, and that you grant the App permission to communicate with devices on your local network. Not every television model, manufacturer or firmware version supports the protocols the App uses. We do not warrant that the App will work with any particular television, and compatibility may change when a manufacturer updates its firmware.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the App to control a television you do not own or do not have permission to control
  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law
  • Attempt to interfere with, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to any network, device or service
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent that such restriction is prohibited by law
  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell, rent or sublicense the App or any part of it
  • Remove or obscure any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice in the App

6. Subscriptions and Purchases

The App is free to download. Some features are available only with an optional Premium subscription, which also removes advertising from the App. The subscription options, their duration and their current price are shown inside the App before you confirm any purchase, and prices may vary by country or region.

The following terms apply to Premium subscriptions:

  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically at the price and for the period shown at the time of purchase, unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
  • You can manage your subscription, or turn off auto-renewal, in your Apple ID account settings after purchase. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
  • Where a free trial is offered, any unused portion of that trial is forfeited if you purchase a subscription before the trial ends.
  • Purchases are processed by Apple. Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with its own policies, and we are not able to issue refunds directly.

Purchases can be restored on any device signed in to the same Apple ID, using the "Restore Purchases" option in the App.

7. Advertising

The free version of the App is supported by advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Advertising appears as banners, as placements within the App's screens, and as occasional full-screen ads shown between actions or when the App is reopened. Purchasing the Premium subscription removes all advertising.

We do not control which advertisements are shown, and the appearance of an advertisement in the App is not an endorsement by us of the advertiser, its products or its services. What information is collected in connection with advertising is described in our Privacy Policy.

8. Privacy

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what information the App handles and how. Please read it carefully.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, layout, graphics, text and underlying software, is owned by us and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our name, logo or branding without our prior written permission.

10. Trademarks and Affiliation

Universal TV Remote – Control is an independent application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with Samsung, LG, Sony, Roku, Amazon, Google, Apple, Netflix, or any other television manufacturer, platform or content provider. All product names, trademarks and registered trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used in the App only to identify compatible devices.

11. Third-Party Devices and Services

The App communicates with televisions and services made by third parties. We do not control those devices or services and are not responsible for their behaviour, availability, content, or for any changes a manufacturer makes to them.

12. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error free, or that it will work with every television.

13. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the App.

14. Updates and Availability

We may release updates to the App, and we may change, suspend or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time without notice. Some updates may be required for the App to continue working correctly.

15. Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the App. You may end them at any time by deleting the App from your device, though deleting the App does not by itself cancel an active subscription — see section 6. We may suspend or terminate your right to use the App if you breach these Terms.

16. Changes To These Terms

Our Terms of Use may change from time to time. We will post any changes on this page, so please review it periodically. If you do not agree to any modifications to these Terms, your sole recourse is to immediately stop all use of the App. Your continued use of the App following the posting of any modifications will constitute your acceptance of the revised Terms.
