Privacy Policy

Universal TV Remote – Control

With the given policy, we notify the laws, rules, limitations, conditions,
and terms of services when you use our app.

Last updated: August 17, 2026

1. Privacy Policy

We recognise that privacy is significant. This Privacy Policy applies to Universal TV Remote – Control ("the App", "we", "us"), previously published as VidTV : Remote. We have created this Policy to explain our privacy practices so you can understand what information about you is collected, used and disclosed. The App is a remote control that communicates directly with televisions on your own home network. By using the App, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

2. Personal Information That We May Collect

The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, phone number, or any other information that identifies you personally. The only time we receive your email address is when you choose to write to us for support, in which case we use it solely to reply to you.

The App does, however, use third-party services for analytics, advertising and subscription management. Those services receive device and usage information as described in sections 8, 9 and 10.

3. Non-Personal Identification Information

When you use the App, information needed to operate the remote is created and kept on your device. This may include the name, model, IP address and hardware (MAC) address of the televisions you connect to, along with your pairing status and your in-app preferences. This information is stored locally on your device so the App can reconnect to your television, and it is not transmitted to us.

4. How We Use Collected Information

Information handled by the App on your device is used only to make the App work:

  • To discover televisions available on your local network
  • To pair with and send remote-control commands to your television
  • To remember the televisions you have previously connected to, so you do not have to pair again each time
  • To remember your in-app preferences

5. Local Network Access

To find and control your television, the App needs permission to communicate with devices on your local network. On first use, your device will ask you to allow this. The App uses that access exclusively to discover televisions, pair with them and send remote-control commands. It does not scan, catalogue or transmit information about other devices on your network, and nothing discovered on your network is sent to us or to any third party. If you decline the permission, the App will not be able to find your television.

6. Data Retention and Your Control

Everything the App itself stores — your saved televisions and your preferences — lives on your device, so you remain in control of it. You can remove a saved television at any time using the "Forget" option in the App, and deleting the App from your device removes all of its locally stored data.

Information already collected by the third-party services described in sections 8, 9 and 10 is retained by those providers under their own policies. Links to each provider's policy are given in those sections.

7. Subscriptions and Purchases

The App is free to download and includes an optional Premium subscription that unlocks additional features and removes advertising. Subscriptions are sold and processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see, receive or store your payment card details.

Payment is charged to your App Store account at confirmation of purchase. A subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the end of that period. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your App Store account settings.

We use RevenueCat, a subscription management service, to validate purchases and to tell the App whether your subscription is currently active. For this purpose RevenueCat receives a pseudonymous app user identifier generated by the App, together with details of the transaction such as the product purchased, purchase and expiry dates, and country of the store. It does not receive your name or your payment details. RevenueCat's handling of this information is described in the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

8. Analytics and Diagnostics

We use the following services to understand how the App is used and to find and fix problems. None of them is used to identify you personally, and we do not sell this information or share it with data brokers.

  • Microsoft Clarity records how people interact with the App — for example which screens are opened, which controls are tapped, how long a session lasts, and technical details such as device model, operating system version, language and region. This information is processed by Microsoft as described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement.
  • Google Firebase Analytics records in-app events such as screens viewed, features used and purchases completed, along with a device-generated app instance identifier and general device information.
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics receives a diagnostic report if the App crashes or encounters an error, including the technical state of the App at that moment and the device model and operating system version.
  • Google Firebase Remote Config retrieves configuration settings that let us adjust features and advertising behaviour without releasing a new version of the App.

The Firebase services above are provided by Google and process data as described in the Firebase Privacy and Security documentation and the Google Privacy Policy.

9. Advertising

The free version of the App is supported by advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Advertising appears as banners, as native placements within the App's screens, and as occasional full-screen ads shown between actions or when the App is reopened.

To select, deliver and measure advertising, Google may collect and process information including your device's advertising identifier, IP address, device model and operating system, approximate location derived from your IP address, and your interactions with the ads shown. Google's use of this information is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in the Google Privacy Policy.

Purchasing the Premium subscription removes all advertising from the App.

10. Tracking Permission (iOS)

On iOS, the App asks for your permission before accessing the advertising identifier (IDFA) supplied by your device. This is the standard App Tracking Transparency prompt, and your answer is entirely your choice. If you decline, the App continues to work exactly as it does otherwise; only the personalisation of the advertising described in section 9 is affected, and you will still see ads.

You can change your answer at any time in the iOS Settings app, under Privacy & Security → Tracking.

11. Trademarks and Affiliation

Universal TV Remote – Control is an independent application. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with Samsung, LG, Sony, Roku, Amazon, Google, Apple, Netflix, or any other television manufacturer, platform or content provider. All product names, trademarks and registered trademarks are the property of their respective owners and are used in the App only to identify compatible devices.

12. How Your Information May Be Disclosed

We do not sell, rent or trade information about you. Information about your use of the App is shared only with the service providers named in this Policy — Microsoft (analytics), Google (analytics, diagnostics, configuration and advertising) and RevenueCat (subscription management) — and only for the purposes described in sections 7, 8 and 9. We may also disclose information if we are required to do so by law or by a valid order of a court or other government authority.

13. How We Protect Your Information

Communication between the App and your television stays within your local network. We follow appropriate administrative, physical and electronic practices to protect any information we do receive, such as support emails you send us. Please note that no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

14. Third-Party Sites

The App may contain links to other websites, such as this Policy or our Terms of Use, and advertising may link to sites operated by advertisers. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of any site we do not operate, and we encourage you to read the privacy policy of every site you visit.

15. Sensitive Information

We do not request, and we ask that you do not send us, any sensitive personal information such as government identification numbers, health information, or information relating to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or other beliefs.

16. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

17. Changes To This Privacy Policy

Our Privacy Policy may change from time to time. We will post any privacy policy changes on this page, so please review it periodically. We may provide you additional forms of notice of modifications or updates as appropriate under the circumstances.

If you do not agree to any modifications to this Policy, your sole recourse is to immediately stop all use of the App. Your continued use of the App following the posting of any modifications to this Policy will constitute your acceptance of the revised Policy.
